A room is a place where you play, you laugh, you dream and you grow up. That’s why helping my sister with the design of my niece, Isabell’s, nursery has been a special project that is dear to my heart. We wanted it to be a space that reflects how much we love her and a space that she can grow into and love herself, over time. We’ve been working hard and now that my beautiful niece is finally here, it’s time for the grand nursery tour.
To start, we decided on a pallet of gray, white and gold with various shades of pink mixed in. First, we centering a vintage dresser, or “changing table”, on the main wall, then moved on to the rooms focal point, the mixed pattern gallery wall.
Each print from the gallery wall was found online and placed in mixed frames that we spray painted white. Then to finish it off, we added a lovely neon heart light from Oh Joy for Target.
Sweet details like this basket full of fur babies, gold baskets filled with classic books and building blocks were sprinkled around the room, each matching the color scheme of pinks, gold, white and gray.
On the opposite side of the nursery we hung gray velvet curtains from a gold and crystal curtain rod and beside that, we placed a refinished white dresser with gold pulls (it used to be turquoise with silver pulls, but we decided that might clash with the new color scheme, right?).
Since the room is a bit small, to give the room a little depth and the illusion of space, we securely placed a lovely gold mirror from Target over the crib.
A fluffy, pink fur blanket and a pink, vintage rug pillow from ikea where used to balance the rooms color scheme and pull the pink accents to the other side of the room (Don’t worry moms & dads, these items are currently just for looks. Once she starts sleeping in the crib, these items will be removed).
Finally, to add more color to the right side of the room, we added framed prints and placed Izzy’s sweet tutu on a ceramic bunny for safe keeping until she’s big enough to wear it herself.
We couldn’t be happier with the outcome of Izzy’s new room, but more importantly, we are so happy to have such a beautiful, healthy baby girl in our lives. She is perfect in every way and I hope that the she will love her room for however long she is living in it.
