December is here and that means Christmas is just around the corner, which makes me super excited! Christmas is not only one of my favorite holidays, it’s also my favorite holiday to decorate for, so the first thing we do every year to get in the holiday spirit is decorate our living room. We start by heading out right after Thanksgiving to get the perfect Christmas tree – or more like, perfect on one side, I mean, who sees the back anyway? Then it’s off to the decorating races. The tree is always our focal point, so that’s what we start with first and this year, our tree is a combination of mixed metal tones, with lots of sparkle and shine.
The next thing on our list is always the fireplace. This year we used garland sprayed with a mixture of the same mixed metal ornaments we used on the tree. Then, we finished it off by tucking in a few gold, spray painted leaves, hanging our favorite faux fur stocking from Target (similar here) and adding two oversized silver ornaments in our fireplace.
Aside from the tree and fireplace, I always try to work my way around to room, incorporating touches of holiday decor in with the decor I already have out. For the entry table, I sprinkled fake snow on top and around the existing picture frames and decorative accents. Then, I added fresh sprigs from the Christmas tree and a mercury glass, gold ornament to top it all off.
It’s the little touches that really make a home feel warm and cozy for the holidays. From the smell of a great tree to ornaments that are special to you, it’s all about incorporating what ‘you’ love into your homes holiday decor. If you do that, you can’t go wrong this season.
