New Year, New Decor

January 4, 2017

Happy 2017, everyone! It’s the new year and that means new resolutions, and for me this year my biggest resolution is to get my house in shape and give it a little refresh. I’ve already started, going from room to room, taking a look at the overall design and decor to make make sure each space feels fresh and new. I know this might sound expensive or time consuming, but it really doesn’t have to be! Easy changes like rearranging your furniture, moving decor from one room to another or simply just adding an inexpensive throw pillow, can really make all the difference. Ready to get inspired and start making your home 2017 ready? Check out the amazing spaces below and get ready to make your home feel brand-new for the new year.

Living Roomvia Domino

The living room is a great place to start sprucing things up for the new year and this living room owned by Elizabeth Damrich is chocked full of inspiration. It’s got it all – feminine elements with a masculine touch, clean white walls with subtle pops of color and an overall sense of style. Want to create your own stylish living room to spend time in this year? Try following Elizabeth’s lead by adding some greenery to give your room a little life, painting the frame of an old mirror and add it to your mantle or wall, reworking your coffee table accessories and finally, and finally, try adding a fresh coat of white paint, then accessorizing with a few pops of color.

Kitchenvia Desire to Inspire

One big kitchen trend for 2017 is definitely going to be the mix of modern and farmhouse styles, so this kitchen by Leanne Ford Interiors is the perfect example of things to come. It’s got just the right mix of rustic charm with polished, cool accents and it’s definitely a dream kitchen if ever there was one. Inspired to cook up a cool new kitchen of your own? Try mixing rustic wood accessories or a farmhouse island, with polished brass or copper fixtures and accents. Finally, add in a couple sheep skin throws and finish it off with a lovely antique bread bowl. Want to take it a step further? Try exposing your sealing beams or adding wood to create an exposed beam look. When you’re done, your kitchen will be a truly envious space.

Dining Roomvia COCOCOZY

In my opinion, a great dining room is all about finding the right balance of styles and knowing how to edit your choices. That’s why this dining room by Natalie Myers proves that not going overboard with decor and accessories can sometimes pay off. With it’s minimal take on wall decor, it shows that less can be more. Start editing your own dining room for 2017 by trying to be selective with your accessories, adding a great chandelier and finally, putting down a gorgeous statement rug to bring it all together.

Master Bedroomvia My Domaine

Want to really start the 2017 off right? Give your bedroom a serine makeover that will leave you feeling rested and relaxed all year long. This bedroom by Danielle Colding shows how you can truly sleep in style. I mean, who wouldn’t sleep peacefully when surrounded by a bed of clouds, right? You can start dreaming in style in 2017 too, but first things first, avoid the stress of feeling cluttered at the end of a long day by organizing and minimizing your bedside tables. Get rid of all the junk and only keep things on and in your bedside tables that you truly need on a nightly basis. Once that’s done, try adding some soft new bedding, toss in a few throw pillows to spice things up, set the mood with the perfect bedside lamps or sconces, and finally, if you have the budget and want to take it to the next level, try some new wallpaper like the gorgeous cloud print from Cold & Son.

Bathroomvia My Domaine

This year, follow the lead of this stunning bathroom designed by Austin Bean Design Studio and go bold. The wallpaper, the vanity, the light fixture…I just can’t get enough! Ready to start your bold-bathroom-adventure (insert joke here)? Try a gorgeously patterned wallpaper like the one above, mixing in a little statement lighting and finally, add a gorgeous marble vanity to finish it all off.

Officevia Decoholic

Offices tend to get cluttered and for good reason: it’s where we keep all our junk. That’s why this gorgeous office posted at the Decoholic is so refreshing. It’s minimalistic approach is just lovely and will leave you feeling light and uncluttered all year long. You can start minimizing and simplify your life by, first and foremost, getting rid of the junk. If you haven’t used it in a year, toss it! Once you’ve decluttered, try mixing a vintage wood desk with simple and modern lucite chair and keep your wall decor to a minimum. Remember – a little can go a long way.

Nurseryvia My Domaine

When it comes to your children’s rooms and nurseries in 2017, there’s only one rule – have fun with it! And this adorably creative nursery in the home of Rebecca Minkoff shows how it should be done. It is clever, lovely and definitely a room that parent and kids will both love. Get the look by painting your kids furniture white, making sure to leave some wood accents, and choosing accessories that are modern and fun (try looking at The Land of Nod, you’ll love it!). Finally, try creating an unfinished wood wall or simply framing out an unfinished piece of plywood to hang, then let your kids imaginations and paint brushes run wild.
