It’s almost time to start popping the champagne, but this year instead of pouring it into the same old boring glass, try mixing it up with something a little more stylish. This rock candy rimmed champagne glass is the perfect accessory to help you ring in the New Year and it’s not only pretty, it tastes good too.
Rock Candy Rimmed Champagne Glass
Clear Rock Candy (loose)
1 Cup Sugar
1. Start by mixing your sugar, corn syrup and water in a medium pot on medium heat. Heat until the sugar has melted, then transfer to a shallow, heat safe container, making sure your container is big enough to fit the rim of your champagne glass in. Let cool for a few minutes.
3. While your mixture is cooling, put your rock candy in a plastic bag and use a metal spoon or utensil to crush the rocks to make them smaller, hitting the spoon or utensil against the rocks to crush them into pieces. If the rocks are too big, they will not stick to the glass, so make sure they are on the small-ish side. Once they are crushed, transfer the rocks to a plate and spread them out evenly.
3. Finally, turn your champagne glass over and dip the rim in the corn syrup mixture. Let it dry for a minute, then roll the rim in your crushed rock candy. Let the glass sit upside down on a clean plate for 30 minutes before serving.
